Mr Clamp is a Consultant in Adult and Paediatric Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery. He has a specialist interest in adult and paediatric otology (conditions of the ear), including; hearing loss, vertigo and dizziness, tinnitus, hearing implants and lateral skull base surgery.
Mr Clamp is the current Clinical Director for ENT services in Bristol, having been appointed as a consultant in 2014.
He undertook his medical training at the University of Oxford before completing his surgical training in the Southwest. As part of his advanced specialist training, he undertook a clinical and research fellowship in Melbourne, Australia. This focused on the management of complex ear disease, cochlear implantation and lateral skull base surgery. The University of Melbourne and Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital are world renown for the development of cochlear implants. Mr Clamp completed research projects on the effect of hearing implantation on cochlear mechanics and novel bone-anchored hearing aids technology.
In addition to his clinical work, he has an interest in ENT research and teaching. He has held Honorary Lecturer and Research Fellow positions at the University of Bristol, School of Social and Community Medicine. Mr Clamp has served on the Council of the British Society of Otology and is a former Secretary of the Royal Society of Medicine (Otology Section).
He has published over 30 articles in peer reviewed scientific journals (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6156-4278), as well as writing book chapters. He on the faculty of the annual British Society of Otology Balance Course.
