Mr Mike Saunders

Mr Mike Saunders is a Consultant in Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgery with extensive experience treating both children and adults. He practises privately at Spire Hospital Bristol and also works within the NHS at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children and St Michael's Hospital.

Mr Saunders qualified  from the University of Bristol in 1988 with the prize in  Child Health . His early work at Bristol Children’s Hospital sparked a strong interest in paediatric ENT, leading him to undertake advanced specialist training at Great Ormond Street Hospital, followed by a year-long fellowship at The New Children’s Hospital in Sydney. Children’s ENT has remained a central and rewarding focus throughout his career. He is the senior paediatric ENT surgeon in the NHS South West region and he continues to teach on a national basis and regularly speaks on Paediatric ENT at national and internaltional meetings.

In 1996 he compoleted research into the molecular biology of nasal polyps to lead to the award of an MD (Doctor of medicine)

Appointed Consultant in 2000, he manages a broad spectrum of ENT conditions, including voice and balance disorders, sinus disease, otology, laryngology, nasal polyps, and nasal obstruction. His surgical expertise includes functional nasal surgery, airway reconstruction,  treatment for nasal blockage, and functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS). He currently serves as Lead Clinician at Spire Hospital Bristol and contributes to national training
