Further developing his skills, he undertook a fellowship at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford on shoulder and elbow surgery. Following this, he undertook a research degree into rotator cuff tears, earning him an MSc for his effort. He was appointed consultant in 2005.
Throughout his career, he has been awarded prizes for his work including the Robert Jones Prize and BOA medal during his higher surgical training on the North West Thames program. A year after he was appointed to consultant, he was appointed as the travelling Fellow for the British Elbow and Shoulder Society.

A wonderful consultant who gives freely of his time and is at pains to make sure that his patient understands what is happening. Mr Reilly is calm, patient, charming and caring as well as obviously being an excellent surgeon.
Genuinely very knowledgeable and expert in his field. But still has the patience to explain diagnosis /treatment in layman’s terms. Very approachable and genuinely cares about his patients and also has a good sense of humour!
