Mr Peter Hull is a Consultant of trauma & orthopaedic surgery currently appointed to the post of Consultant Orthopaedic Trauma surgeon at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge and was the trauma lead consultant from 2014-2018. Mr Hull's areas of specialist interest are pelvic and acetabular (hip socket) fractures, open fractures, multiply injured patients and complex lower limb injuries, including foot & ankle trauma. As one of the six orthopaedic trauma surgeons with a specialist interest in complex trauma, he regularly treats patients who have sustained multiple injuries, while also taking part in the consultant on call rota for trauma and the weekly fracture clinic for patients sustaining all types of orthopaedic injuries.
Mr Hull attended medical school at the University of Birmingham, undertaking orthopaedic training in the West Midlands and spending a year at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto, perfecting his skills in complex trauma surgery, including pelvic and acetabular (hip socket) surgery. He also obtained further training in knee and hip replacement surgery.
Mr Hull receives referrals from throughout the East of England for advice and definitive management of pelvic and acetabular fractures and complex trauma. He also has significant academic interest, including a £250,000 grant awarded for research into distal femur fractures, £250,000 grant for research into acetabular fractures and £2.5 million pounds for research into pelvic fractures. Outide his clinical work, he instructs regularly on international trauma courses and was the invited chairman for the 2018, European AO pelvic and acetabular course.
