Mr Ali Bajwa is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon subspecialising in the knee and hip surgery. He trained in the Newcastle-upon-Tyne Deanery where he completed his basic surgical and specialist training in orthopaedic and trauma surgery. He obtained a master's degree in orthopaedics and he also holds his Sports Medicine qualifications from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Mr Bajwa received numerous awards for his work and he also undertook two prestigious fellowships at the world-renowned centres of excellence - one with Mr Richard Villar in hip arthroscopy in London, UK, where he mastered pioneering techniques in hip preservation surgery, and the other at Orthopaedic Centre in Adelaide, Australia, distinguished centre of excellence for knee and hip arthroscopy treatment, sports injury and joint replacement. He was a Consultant at the James Cook University Hospital, Teesside, before joining the Richard Villar Practice, a full-time independent practice.
Mr Bajwa sees patients with all aspects of hip and knee conditions. He performs major knee ligament reconstructions (anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments), hip arthroscopy, femoroacetabular impingement, joint preservation, cartilage regeneration, modern joint replacement surgery of hip and knee in patients with advanced arthritis where joint preservation is not possible, total and partial replacement of the joints, including computer navigation and shape-matched surgery. He is particularly interested in sports injuries and tendon degeneration and tears.
Mr Bajwa has a keen interest in clinical research as well. He has published extensively in his field of expertise and received numerous awards for his academic work.
