Mr Peter Acher

Mr Peter Acher is a Consultant Urological Surgeon specialising in general urology, urological oncology and urinary tract stones. He is based in London and Essex and has over 10 years of specialist experience in urology as a consultant.

Mr Acher completed his MBBS from Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital in 1999. He was awarded a PhD for his work on prostate cancer brachytherapy from King's College London in 2010, he also received a commendation for his work at the Royal Society of Medicine, Young Trainee of the Year Awards. In 2011 he became a Fellow in Urology at the Royal College of Surgeons and completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice from King's College London.

He completed post-qualification training at the North Thames Specialist Registrar and was registered as a Specialist by the General Medical Council in 2012.

In his current position, he sees patients with urinary stone disease, urological cancers, urinary flow problems and kidney stones. He has proven expertise in a wide range of surgical procedures including short-stay laser prostate surgery (HoLEP) carrying out approximately 100 of these procedures per year. He developed diagnostic services for prostate conditions which integrate multiparametric MRI and prostate biopsy, reducing infections and is preferred by his patients. He is passionate about utilising the most recent, evidenced-based techniques to provide the highest quality of care for his patients.

Mr Acher is actively involved in research and evaluating case outcomes. He has published numerous literature in his field of work and has research interests in prostate brachytherapy, prostate cancer and laser prostate surgery. He presents his work at international meetings and has received a number of awards and prizes.

Mr Acher is also a Member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons and the European Association of Urology.
