Pat delivered my second baby via elective C-section at UCLH’s private wing, the Fitzrovia Suite, and the entire experience was truly amazing. Having had a more complicated first pregnancy and a previous C-section with another consultant, I knew I wanted to be under the care of a consultant I trusted from quite early on. I chose Pat, and I’m so glad I did. From meeting him at his clinic well before the delivery, to the scheduled Zoom calls in the lead-up, he made me feel completely confident and relaxed. I always felt able to ask questions, whether by telephone or WhatsApp, and he was incredibly responsive and reassuring throughout. On the day itself, Pat instantly put me at ease. It was also clear how loved and respected he is by his team, which gave me an enormous amount of confidence. Throughout my stay at the Fitzrovia Suite, he was attentive and supportive, taking the time to explain every part of the process to me. His manner was always reassuring, calm and factual, which was exactly what I needed. I couldn’t recommend Pat O’Brien more highly. If you are considering who to have looking after you, I would wholeheartedly recommend him.

I cannot recommend Pat highly enough. He looked after me throughout both of my pregnancies and delivered both of my boys by elective Caesarean section — my first at UCLH and my second at The Portland Hospital. As a surgeon myself, I did a lot of research before choosing the obstetrician I wanted to manage my pregnancies and deliveries. One of the things that particularly appealed to me about Pat was his established NHS consultant practice at UCLH. I felt it was very important to choose someone who remained closely embedded in a major NHS teaching hospital, working within a large multidisciplinary team and with extensive experience across the full breadth of obstetric practice. That gave me a great deal of confidence in choosing him. I wanted someone whose clinical judgement I could trust completely, but who would also listen to me and respect my choices. Pat was exceptional on every level. From the beginning, the level of access and personal care he offered stood out. He gave me his mobile number and told me I could call him at any time if I was worried. I remember being quite surprised by this, as I had never experienced that kind of accessibility from a doctor before, but he genuinely meant it. Throughout both pregnancies, I always knew I could reach him if I needed to. He was consistently calm, reassuring and helpful, and nothing ever felt like too much trouble. I saw Pat O Brien through whole pregnancy and 6 weeks post appointment. All of the care I received was exceptional. He is so calm and reassuring which is exactly what I needed with my anxiety. He was always very professional and also very friendly and supportive.

I reached out to Dr. Pat after recommendations from multiple people, as i had a slightly complicated case (pregnancy + a large dermoid cyst). Thanks to Dr. Pat’s calm, kind and meticulous approach, i had the best possible c-section experience possible, felt like i was in a spa! I would hugely recommend Pat to everyone for their baby’s birth. I was extremely nervous going into a planned C section (following complications in a prior birth that was not with Pat), yet from the moment I met him, Pat’s relaxed, warm and empathetic nature made me feel at ease. He was on hand to answer any questions I had prior to the birth and post birth which I found to be a huge comfort; whilst also bringing such a calm and relaxed atmosphere into the birth itself. I couldn’t be more grateful to Pat for turning an experience I was so fearful about, into a calm and comfortable one, and ultimately delivering me the most precious gift. Mr Pat OBrien has been my obstetrician in my two pregnancies and I couldn't have been happier. His expertise, easy, friendly and calm manner, as well as his ability to explain everything clearly reassured me at all times. The deliveries went well and I felt calm at all times. We feel incredibly lucky to have had Mr. Patrick O'Brien as our obstetrician throughout my pregnancy and the birth of our baby. From our very first appointment, he made us feel supported, informed, and cared for. Mr O’Brien was exceptional from the moment I first met him at 10 weeks pregnant, to my 6 week postpartum check. I put all my faith and trust in him for a very very special pregnancy and he always exceeded my expectations. I will be forever grateful to him.
