Mr Nicholas Flower

I have had over 30years of experience in ENT and embarked on my career after attaining medical degrees at Jesus College, Cambridge and St.Mary's Hospital, London. I spent 3 months on elective in South Africa with a subsequent adventure driving from London to Capetown. I was involved with a number of medical institutions as a consequence and experienced first and third world medicine in Africa first hand.

Foundation training involved working in general medicine, general surgery, A&E, Neurosurgery and a 4 month assignment in General Practice all in London before embarking on an ENT Training Programme.

My ENT training was with the South of England Training scheme but I was fortunate to also work in training in New Zealand for 18 months experiencing both North and South Islands.

I was Appointed Consultant ENT Surgeon at the Princess Alexandra Hospitals NHS Trust June 2000. This involved running extensive ENT elective and emergency services in Harlow and Chelmsford with an able team of clinicians.

I have 3 children, now happy adults and many interests outside of work especially travelling, sailing and more recently salsa dancing!

My career has been often challenging but successful and satisfying. I am keen to embrace new ideas and will always do my utmost for patient care. This includes referral onwards to other colleagues if I feel this is in a patient's best interest.

Diseases, Medical Tests and Treatments

Eustachian Tuboplasty for patients with difficulty clearing ears insinuations such as flying/diving or sensitivity to colds.

Balloon Sinuplasty is a special interest and offers a conservative surgical solution for sinusitis.

Endoscopic sinus surgery especially balloon sinuplasty and eustachian tuboplasty. I work with Opthalmologists in the management of watery eyes (epiphora).
