Mr Nev Davies is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in knee surgery and children’s orthopaedics. He treats knee problems across all ages, from children and teenage athletes with sports injuries to adults with ligament, meniscal and cartilage injuries and people with knee arthritis.
His specialist knee practice includes ACL injuries and reconstruction, revision ACL surgery, meniscal repair, recurrent kneecap dislocation and patellofemoral instability, cartilage injuries, knee preservation surgery, osteotomy, partial knee replacement and total knee replacement. He has a particular interest in treating active patients and helping them return safely to sport and the activities that matter to them.
Nev also provides general paediatric orthopaedic care for children with conditions affecting the hips, knees, feet, gait, growth and limb alignment, as well as fractures and other musculoskeletal problems. His combined practice in children’s orthopaedics and adult knee surgery enables him to manage knee problems throughout childhood, adolescence and adulthood.
Nev trained in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery on the Oxford specialist training programme and completed a specialist fellowship in children’s orthopaedics at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in Sydney, Australia. He has been a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Berkshire Hospital since 2010.
Alongside his clinical practice, Nev is actively involved in research, education and sports injury prevention. He teaches nationally and internationally on knee surgery and children’s orthopaedics and is a Trustee and co-founder of Power Up to Play, an initiative working with sporting organisations, schools, clubs and coaches to reduce serious sports injuries, particularly ACL injuries, in young athletes.
Nev’s approach is based on listening carefully, explaining the problem in straightforward language and involving patients and families fully in decisions about treatment. Surgery is not always the answer, and he works closely with specialist physiotherapists and other clinicians to explore non-operative treatment whenever appropriate.
He welcomes second-opinion referrals for complex knee problems in children, adolescents and adults, including patients considering surgery or seeking another opinion following previous treatment.
Nev works closely with his practice manager, Debbie Rollason, who provides continuity for patients throughout their care.
Outside medicine, Nev enjoys running, competitive golf and rugby and spends much of his spare time supporting his three sons’ sport

Dr Nev has been wonderful. My daughter broke her femur in France had an operation and we returned home. She loves her sport and it was really important for us to find a Dr who could help us navigate this time, future operations and communicate with a child. He came highly recommended and we have not been disappointed.
My experience was excellent. Clear information from the outset and the actual procedure all went very smoothly.
Nev offers an honest and straightforward appraisal of the situation. He does not sugarcoat and provides good advice and encouragement.
As always, Nev provided friendly and accurate professional advice. I am indeed grateful to him for replacing both my knee joints and putting me back on the road to an active life.
Thank you so much to Nev and his wonderful assistant Debbie. Throughout my son’s knee fracture injury and rehabilitation we have had excellent support and advice. Appointments have been made with location and timing in mind and questions raised and addressed imminently. Nev is amazing with teenagers and had my son on side from the beginning, this has been fundamental in ensuring he does his exercises and listens to all advice given during his recovery. We are so glad to be under your care.
Nev saw my son after a football injury to his hip. He was very caring and reassuring and his excellent understanding of the injury helped in his road to recovery.
Reassuring manner, all risks and potential consequences explained with likelihoods, procedure quick but not rushed, felt looked after and very well informed. No issues whatsoever.
I very much felt heard - the conversation was clear and easy
My new knee has made a huge difference to my life. Throughout the whole procedure I found Nev very informative and reassuring both pre and post op. Highly recommended knee surgeon.
A delightful and very skilful Surgeon who was recommended by a friend who also has a full knee replacement operation. His nickname is "Nev the Knee" which is well deserved.
Fantastic surgeon. Brilliant communicator.
