Mr Moustafa Mansour

Mr Moustafa Mansour is a Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI), General and Laparoscopic Surgeon. He trained at the West of Scotland Deanery, gaining broad experience across various surgical subspecialties with a focus on upper gastrointestinal, biliary, and laparoscopic surgery.

Before obtaining his GMC specialist registration, he worked as a Senior Clinical Fellow at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, University of Glasgow. During this fellowship, he gained invaluable experience in Oesophago-Gastric (OG) and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) surgery.

Following completion of his training, Mr Mansour was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon in Nuneaton, West Midlands, and later took up a substantive post as a Consultant Upper GI and General Surgeon at Pennine Acute NHS Trust in 2014. He later joined Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust in April 2021.

Since his consultant appointment in 2014, he has contributed to the creation and development of a complex benign Upper GI service for the North Manchester population and beyond, including an established service for anti-reflux procedures and hiatal/diaphragmatic hernia surgery. He served for four years as Lead Governance Consultant for Surgery at North Manchester, overseeing the implementation of clinical governance and quality systems within the unit.

Mr Mansour undertakes a wide range of laparoscopic procedures, including anti-reflux surgery, complex cholecystectomy, laparoscopic abdominal wall and groin hernia repair, and excision of subcutaneous lesions. He also performs various endoscopic procedures including diagnostic and therapeutic UGI endoscopy and colonoscopy.

Alongside his clinical practice, he is active in Medical Education and Training. He is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy of the United Kingdom and a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Manchester (Hon). He also works closely with the Surgical Royal Colleges.

He is a GMC recognised trainer and acively participates in training both junior and senior surgical trainees. He supervises undergraduate students of Manchester University Medical School.
