About Mr Michael Hockings

Mr Michael Hockings is an Orthopaedic Surgeon and examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons. He completed his undergraduate training at Manchester University and also achieved a BSc in Medical Sciences from St. Andrew''s University and a Masters in Orthopaedic Engineering from Cardiff University. Mr Hockings undertook specialist training in Orthopaedics and Trauma in Manchester and went on to specialise in hip and knee surgery in Toronto. He now works full time at Torbay Hospital, and his annual report from the National Joint Register 2016 shows that his revision rate for hip and knee-replacements is below the national average. Mr Hockings has an interest in medical education, and he is involved in teaching junior surgeons. He was voted Trainer of the Year in the South West in 2013. Mr also has an interest in research and has been published in the Knee Journal and Joint Journal (British Orthopaedic Association Journal). Mr Hockings consults and operates privately at Mount Stuart Hospital in Torquay.
