Mr Craigen is a Consultant Hand, Wrist and Elbow surgeon based at the BMI Priory Hospital in Birmingham. His NHS practice is based at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. Mr Craigen qualified at Guys Hospital in London and did specialist Orthopaedic training in Nottingham, Aberdeen, Glasgow, and Southampton. He also underwent specialist training in hand and wrist surgery at the world famous Wrightington hand and upper limb unit in Manchester and the Kleinert Institue in Lousiville Kentucky USA. Prior to moving to Birmingham in 1997 he spent 2 years as a senior lecturer in hand surgery at the University of Nottingham.
Mr Craigen is currently a senior consultant at the Birmingham Hand Centre based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, the regional centre for hand surgery. He has a particular interest in the management of complex wrist problems, surgery for upper limb spasticity and arthritis of the hand and wrist, as well as other common hand condition such as carpal tunnel syndrome.
