Dr Hove made sure I was informed of every step in the process and made himself available for any questions I had. I felt comfortable expressing any reservations I had about the surgery. He gave me the confidence to go through with it. On the day of the surgery, he made sure I was comfortable and aware of what was going to happen. I was confident in his ability to do the surgery.

My consultation with Mr. Hove was a really positive experience from start to finish. He instantly made me feel comfortable and understood what concerned me, explaining everything very clearly in a way that I could understand. He was very patient and I really appreciated the time he devoted to answering all my questions. I would highly recommend him.

Mr Hove was extremely reassuring and very professional. I was very nervous with my 1st cataract eye procedure, he made me feel relaxed and at ease. Therefore my 2nd eye procedure 6 weeks later with Mr Hove was not at all stressful for me.

I cannot really describe my delight after the Bilateral Phacoemulsification with trifocal lenses procedure. I don't need any correction at all and my vision feels crisp and impossibly sharp after a lifetime of glasses or contacts. I was told that surgical correction was impossible due to my prescription and a retinal detachment repair in both eyes. Mr Hove was meticulous in his consultation and impressed with his openness. I felt confident that he would not agree to the procedure if he felt it would be unsuccessful. The surgery itself was painless and although it was odd to see the lens actually go in. the atmosphere was quite joyful and chatty and it was nice to hear that all was going well at the different stages. I was sitting up in under an hour and I could see immediately after the drape was removed. Mr Hove has gone above and beyond checking in with me post surgery as my prescription was so unusually high (-19). Other than eye drops, I've not needed any medication or pain relief or even used eye patches. My only regret is that I didn't come see him sooner and that I can't stop boring my friends by pointing out all the colours and details of everyday life that I was missing.

I recently completed the Bilateral refractive lens exchange with trifocal lenses, my experience is shared below to hopefully encourage others to complete this procedure. > Dr Hove explained to me in detail what would be involved in this process, with all the possible things that could go wrong and their percentage of likelihood > I have to say, i left the meeting very well informed (actually maybe too informed as i got to see the process warts and all, and he was very clear about the risks and the halo effect that you get at night when looking at lights...) > I was nervous in the run up to the operation, but I have to say I'm really pleased that i didnt back out (which did cross my mind), as the results so far (circa 2 months after the op) are remarkable, and not only the sight has improved, the quality of my life has improved, and i would even say i feel younger. > Some questions that people might be thinking of: >> Was the operation painful? No pain whatsoever, however you can feel someone poking away in your eye but there is no pain, there is some general discomfort, but definitely not painful. The most annoying part of the procedure is all the eye drops that you have take before the opp (Which believe me is a small price to pay) >> What happens after the op? Basically you go home and your sight is hazy and feeling quite tired, your eyes are covered with a protective cover (which you need to wear at night for the first week), about 24 hours the sight is almost normal, at 48 hours its almost perfect. You will be given two sets of eye drops that you will need to take 4 times a day for 6 weeks, which is a bit tedious as you have to wake up early to put eye drops in. > So what is the new vision like: The near/close vision is amazing (laptop. mobile, newspaper, food,...etc) The distance vision in a car during the day is very good Vision not during daylight: At dusk time is good but feels a little hazy At night you will see the Halo effect - mainly noticed when driving and in front of traffic lights - What is the halo like? when you look at the Green or Red traffic light...you see it with a few circles around it.... To summarise, the operation is not cheap, but the results are amazing, and i have been assured that it will do the job for (almost) the rest of my life. I would definitely recommend Dr Hove to my friends and family...he really knows what he is doing and is a real gent.
First and foremost we are pleased that you are happy with your new eyesight and for confirming that it does make you feel younger to be able too see properly again (I never actually promise this but numerous patients mention it). As for your comprehensive review - I wish all my patients would take this much time to describe their experience. The finer details are invaluable for patients considering having refractive lens exchange or trying to decide if I am the right surgeon for them. Thank you for trusting us with your precious eyesight- Mr Hove and team
