About Mr Matthew Solan
Mr Matthew Solan is a consultant orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeon who specialises in all aspects of Foot and Ankle surgery. He sees both adults and children with a wide variety of foot, ankle, and sports injuries. His aim is to restore function as quickly as possible, with surgery only as a last resort. Mr Solan has particular expertise in the painful big toe and the treatment of heel pain. He introduced the UK's first 'one-stop' clinic for heel and ankle problems and has been a pioneer of minimally invasive muscle release surgery for chronic heel pain. He also has special interests in arthroscopic key-hole surgery, forefoot surgery, rheumatoid arthritis and heel pain/achilles conditions.
Mr Solan graduated from St Thomas' Hospital Medical School in 1992. He undertook specialist orthopaedic training in the South Thames (West) Region before being awarded a British Orthopaedic Travelling Fellowship in Dublin. Mr Solan has also worked overseas in South Africa and undertaken research at Universities in Baltimore, USA.
In 2003, he was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Frimley Park Hospital, and to the Royal Surrey County Hospital in 2006. He has published extensively on foot and ankle surgery and teaches both nationally and internationally.

Already explained an ultrasound guiding a cortisone injection was administered.Hopefully, the treatment that I received will help settle down the pain and eventually lead to more mobility.
His experience and expertise were exceptional. He was very clear in his diagnosis and explaining the options available. He was also quick to discuss with colleagues to ensure that the best possible solution was arrived at. He has a very nice manner and makes his patients feel well looked after.

Mr Solan is excellent in his care. Mr Solan explained clearly options available to me including an operation which I later had. He made sure I understood the after op care and expected results. Mr Solan is patient and really does put the patient needs first. I have the utmost confidence in him and his knowledge and care. His staff speak highly of him too.
Experienced, knowledgeable and professional consultant with no fuss approach
Mr Solan explained what surgery was required and carried out the procedure well and with as little discomfort as possible. I was extremely impressed with his skill and attitude. He could not have been more friendly and I was back to playing golf within three to four weeks.
