Mr Leo Cheng is a Consultant in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon with special interests in Oral, Maxillofacial, Head and Neck Surgery with over 30 years of experience. He is currently based in London and Hertfordshire and sees private patients at Rivers Hospital, The London Independent Hospital and Spire London East Hospital. He sees NHS patients at St Bartholomew's Hospital, The Royal London Hospital and Homerton University Hospital.
Mr Cheng obtained his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree at the University of Edinburgh in 1985, followed by his Diploma of Fellowship in Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine at the Faculty of Dental Surgery, Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1990. He later went on to complete his medical degree at the University of Birmingham in 1991, followed by his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow in general surgery in 1995. Following his specialist training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, he was awarded his Fellowship by the Royal College of Surgeons and his Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in 1999. Mr Cheng also completed his Master in Law (LLM) degree in medical practice from the University of Wales in 2006.
Mr Cheng has extensive expertise in all aspects of oral & maxillofacial surgery and head and neck surgery, including general oral & maxillofacial conditions, dentoalveolar surgery, facial skin cancer, salivary gland disorders, thyroid surgery and facial trauma.
Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Cheng is the lead course organiser for the London Deanery for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He is also a regular volunteer on the 'Mercy Ships' in West Africa, offering thyroid and maxillofacial reconstructive surgery services to the less fortunate in these countries. He is also the Director of About Face Patients' Support Group, a support group dedicated to helping patients who have undergone oral & maxillofacial surgery helping maximise their physical and psychological recovery.
