About Mr Kostas Karavidas
Mr Kostas Karavidas is a Consultant Maxillofacial/Head and Neck and Oral Surgeon at Luton and Dunstable University Hospital, where he has been based since 2012. He is also a key member of the Multidisciplinary Head and Neck Team. He undertakes facial reconstructive surgery for cancer patients and minimally invasive treatment for obstructive salivary gland disorders.
He specialises in the following areas:
- Head and neck cancer surgery,
- Facial reconstruction and rehabilitation,
- Skin cancer,
- Sialendoscopy and minimal intraoral surgery for obstructive salivary gland disease
- Salivary gland surgery,

He performs regular sialendoscopies and uses all forms of minimal treatment for salivary gland obstructive disease, such as laser intraluminal fragmentation of stones, basket retrieval of stones, balloon sialoplasties, and the intraoral ductal stretching technique for deeply seated stones in the hilum of the submandibular gland.
Mr Karavidas has conducted a large volume of free tissue transfer for facial defect reconstruction using a variety of flaps. He is is a strong believer that reconstruction is patient-specific, and he frequently incorporates virtual surgical planning into his patients' surgical care, ensuring that all patients are as informed about their results as possible prior to surgery.

I was a bit stressed to say the least as I knew the tooth was so close to a nerve and my AdHD went mad and thought all sorts. I was reassured and the process was relatively easy despite a little hiccup with dates. Mr Karavidas managed to get me in the same week as my original appointment. I was in and out same day. Although I have a lot of pain the week following I had spoken to him and yet again reassure me it was normal. Not only is my wisdom tooth out I no longer have pain in my upper arm and less pain in my neck and movement has also got much better .Thank you so much
