John Stammers

Mr John Stammers graduated from The Royal Free and University College London Medical School and remained in London as a junior doctor before undertaking Specialist Registrar (SpR) training on the North East Thames Royal London Rotation. He completed his surgical apprenticeship at world-class institutions, performing high-volume hip and knee replacements, including the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital at Stanmore, the Royal London, and Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospitals.

Mr Stammers refined his subspecialised training with two arthroplasty fellowships: The Barts Elective Orthopaedic Hospital and the Rothman Institute at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, where he was the first UK trainee to complete one of the most sought-after operative fellowships in America. This experience allowed him to work alongside world-famous leaders in orthopaedic surgery.

Currently, as part of the Complex Arthroplasty team at St George’s and the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre, Mr Stammers manages patients with complex medical and surgical needs. He performs high-volume revisions and has a special interest in investigating painful joint replacements and managing infected joint replacements.
