About Mr Jan Dmitrewski
Mr Jan Dmitrewski is a seasoned consultant surgeon working full time in private practice in Wolverhampton.
His clinical interests now focus on hernia repair (inguinal, femoral, umbilical and epigastric) and general surgery. With 27 years of experience as a consultant surgeon, he has performed well over 1000 hernia repairs.
Mr Dmitrewski graduated from Warsaw Medical School in Poland in 1984. After coming to the UK in 1989, he undertook surgical training in the West Midlands. He obtained his FRCS (Glasgow) in 1991. His training also included a period of research, and in 1997 he was awarded an MD by the University of Birmingham. He was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon in 1999 and retired from his NHS post at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham in 2022. Between 2011 and 2023 he also served on the Panel of Examiners for Intercollegiate Specialty Examinations in General Surgery.

Really happy with the treatment and the manner in which it was delivered.
Had a consultation with Mr Dmitrewski regarding my left inguinal hernia, where he examined me and confirmed that the only option would be a surgical repair. He explained in great detail what was involved, in terms that I understood and gave me a no obligation quotation. I took the decision to go ahead with the surgery as soon as possible and the surgery was scheduled for a week later. Surgery was carried out and Mr Dmitrewski checked on me whilst I was waiting to go down to surgery, and after returning from surgery, he came round to tell me that everything had gone well and checked that I was alright. Two weeks later I returned to have the surgical clips removed very efficiently by the nursing staff. I returned again three weeks later for final consultation where I was checked over thoroughly and discharged. I would like to thank Mr Dmitrewski and his team for the excellent manner in which everything was carried out. I would highly recommend him to anybody who is considering surgery. Once again, many thanks to all.
Mr Dmitrewski was extremely thorough and helpful from my first consultation with him, through my hernia repair operation and through my follow up consultation afterwards. He involved me and my wife all through the process explaining each step of the way how it would work. He made me feel very confident and relaxed about the whole procedure. My son has also had a hernia repair carried out by Mr Dmitrewski and neither of us would have any reservation in recommending him to future patients.
