Jamil Hakim graduated with a first class Honours degree in Pharmacology from the University of London Kings College. He was awarded the Layton Science Research prize of Kings College and the ICI Pharmaceuticals Prize in Pharmacology. He then trained in medicine at the Westminster Medical School.
Jamil trained in ophthalmology in London. He was Senior Registrar at Moorfields Eye Hospital where he also undertook a Fellowship in Paediatric Ophthalmology.
Mr Hakim is a Consultant at Kings College, London with main clinical activities at Queen Mary's Hospital-Sidcup, Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Princess Royal University Hospital. He is the Clinical Lead.
His main sub-specialist interests are sutureless cataract surgery with 2 mm incision, Toric lens implant that corrects for astigmatism, multi focal implants that correct for near and far and multi focal Toric implants that correct for all refractive errors so glasses are not needed, He also manages glaucoma, paediatric ophthalmology, squints and lacrimal surgery.
Mr Hakim has extensice experience in toric and multifocal Toric lens Implants so that glasses are not required after lens surgery.
