I am a consultant ophthalmic surgeon and paediatric ophthalmologist in Leeds with over 20 years of experience working in a major teaching hospital. My special interests are childrens' eye health, adult and paediatric neuro-ophthalmology and strabismus surgery.

My research interests are paediatric ophthalmic oncology particulalry neurofibromatosis type 1 and optic pathway gliomas.

At Spire Hospital Leeds, I work with a very experienced senior orthoptist allowing complete management of patients under my care.

Qualifications

I trained at Manchester University and completed my basic ophthalmic training in Manchester and the West Midlands. I completed my training in Yorkshire. I spent my fellowship year split between Leeds and The Sick Childrens Hospital in Toronto before taking up a consultant role at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust. I moved to Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in 2001.

I have held a number of managerial and training roles including Clinical Director, Divisional Medical Manager and Head of the Yorkshire and Humber School of Ophthalmology.

I have been actively involved in academia and research for the last 25 years. I have co-written two text books and continue to publish papers (7 in the last 5 years) in major international journals.

I have extensive experience in managing all forms of paediatric eye disease, adults and children with neuro-ophthalmic problems and all patients requiring squint (strabismus) surgery.
