Mr Debasish Pal

Mr. Debashish Pal is a Consultant Neurosurgeon with over a decade of experience in the treatment and management of cervical disorders, degenerative disease, and lumbar disorders. He sees private patients at the Spire Leeds Hospital and the Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital. His NHS work is based at Leeds General infirmary.

Mr. Pal earned his medical bachelor's degree at the University of Calcutta and went on to undertake his specialist neurosurgery training in Leeds. He was then awarded a renowned Spinal Fellowship in Nottingham, which allowed him to gain knowledge and expertise in various techniques used in spinal surgery. He also gained the opportunity to work with orthopaedic spinal surgeons during this fellowship, which gave him further insight into spinal disorders including complex spinal reconstructions.

Upon completion of his training, Mr. Pal was appointed Consultant Neurosurgeon in 2009 and has since provided a range of procedures recommended by evidence-based practice. His practice includes the entirety of the spine excluding paediatrics.

Apart from the standard spinal procedures, Mr. Pal has developed a special interest in lateral access surgery and has the largest experience on this in the region. He also has a special interest with Thoracic disc surgery which is one of the most challenging spinal procedures. Along with his colleagues he has developed a minimally invasive approach for such patients and has presented his work nationally and internationally.

A large part of Mr. Pal's practice includes very elderly patients and Mr. Pal firmly believes that age alone should not be a criteria to offer life-changing procedures.

Mr. Pal has published more than 30 papers in peer-reviewed journals and has presented nationally and internationally. He continues to be actively involved in research.
