Mr David Wood

Mr David Wood is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee surgery, lower limb joint replacement (arthroplasty), and complex revision procedures. He graduated from the University of Liverpool Medical School in 2005 and completed higher specialist orthopaedic training on the South Yorkshire Rotation within the Yorkshire Deanery. He subsequently completed an intensive lower limb arthroplasty fellowship at Nottingham University Hospitals, focusing on complex primary and revision hip and knee surgeries.

Appointed as a Substantive Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Chesterfield Royal Hospital in 2020, Mr Wood also maintains private practice commitments at Thornbury Hospital and Spire Claremont Hospital in Sheffield. His clinical interests include primary total hip and knee replacements, knee arthroscopy, revision surgery for aseptic loosening or infection, periprosthetic fractures, and treating hip and knee arthritis in younger patients.

He was awarded the British Hip Society / Stryker Travelling Fellowship in Robotics and Computer-Assisted Surgery, visiting high-volume centres across the UK, Europe, and the USA. Mr Wood is an active educator, serving as a Clinical and Educational Supervisor to medical students and junior doctors from the Universities of Sheffield and Nottingham.
