He completed his orthopaedic training at Wirral University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, where he received advanced training in the management of complex elective, revision, and trauma foot and ankle conditions.
Prior to this, he underwent six years of specialist orthopaedic training in the Mersey Deanery, after graduating with Honours from The University of Liverpool School of Medicine in 2003.

I had my 1st mtp (big toe joint) fused at the end of January with Mr Machin, having had arthritis in the joint for around 4 yrs. I had a good experience at the Nuffield in Chester and the pre and post op appointments all went well. I was treated with respect and courtesy at all times, with clear explanations at every opportunity. The surgery has been a great success for me and after 12 weeks I have been discharged. All in all I would highly recommend Mr Machin.

Having debated and decided to go private I was so glad I made the decision. The whole process for my successful arthritic ankle fusion was outstanding, from initial consultancy through the pre and post op care and onwards to being back, active and pain free. Mr Machin and the Spire staff were top quality in every respect.

I had bilateral bunion removal and through every stage Mr Machin has kept me fully aware of what I would experience. Each appointment has been informative and I have gone away knowing exactly what is happening is perfectly normal and what to expect next. The operation itself was literally pain free with very little discomfort. The main issue was the frustration of the recovery with very little movement being allowed but again Mr Machin had already advised me that this would be the case so I was prepared it’s just being a very active 67 year old it was hard to be so inactive
