About Mr Damian Glancy
Mr Damian Glancy is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon with subspecialty expertise in colorectal cancer, benign colorectal disorders, advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, pelvic floor disorders and innovative treatments for haemorrhoids, including Transanal Haemorrhoidal De-arterialisation (THD).
He runs a joint pelvic floor clinic alongside uro-gynaecologists Mr M James and Mr P Rahmanou, offering multidisciplinary care for patients with complex pelvic floor conditions. His specialist procedures include sacral nerve stimulation (SNS) for faecal and urinary incontinence, as well as laparoscopic ventral mesh rectopexy for patients with obstructed defaecation syndrome (ODS) or external rectal prolapse.
Mr Glancy studied medicine at Bristol University and completed surgical training in the South West Region. He undertook research into the effects of pre-operative radiotherapy on the colon and rectum at Bristol Royal Infirmary, supervised by Mr M Thomas, and was awarded an Enid Linder Royal College of Surgeons Research Fellowship. He gained further subspecialty expertise through an Ethicon Colorectal Laparoscopic Fellowship under Mr U Khot at Morriston Hospital, Swansea, followed by a Pelvic Floor Fellowship under Mr P Durdey at Bristol Royal Infirmary.
He was subsequently appointed as a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon, with a clinical practice focused on advanced laparoscopic and pelvic floor surgery.

Dr. Glancy is a fantastic doctor. I needed a hernia repair on short notice with a very short window for recovery to be ready for a distance cycling event. He was very honest about discussing my options (“key hike” vs traditional surgery) and we agreed together on a plan. What makes him exceptional (outside of a perfect surgery with very tidy scar) is his professional yet personal manner. I would highly recommend him.
On my arrival I was treated with kind ness and repect. My procedure was fully discussed with the consultant. I was kept updated and informed whilst waiting for my procedure.

Excellent, fast and efficient with treatment plans and next steps
very lucky to be examined by Mr Glancy who quickly diagnosed my hernia issue without the need for a CT scan (which would have been a five hour wait) and personally operated on me that afternoon. My treatment under Dr Glancy (and indeed all the NHS staff that assisted me) has been simply excellent.
Today was a follow up as having some real ups and downs with my digestive system. Mr Glancy listens to everything, answers questions and genuinely cares about reaching the best outcome. He was fantastic with my stoma surgery 3 years ago and every appointment since. Highly recommended.
