About Mr Christopher McLean
Mr. Chris McLean is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon based in Guildford. He did his medical training at Imperial College, London, qualifying in 1989. After his initial medical degree, he undertook his postgraduate ophthalmic training which involved working at several London teaching Hospitals and he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 1993. His specialist training continued at Moorfield's Eye Hospital where he also undertook a Fellowship in Oculoplastic and Lacrimal surgery under Mr Richard Collin and Mr Geoffrey Rose.
With extensive skill and experience under his belt, Mr. Mclean became an NHS Consultant at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in 1999, and also works at St Peter's Hospital, Chertsey as well as his private practice in Guildford and the surrounding area. He is a founder member of the British Oculoplastic Surgical Society.
Mr McLean's great passions are small incision cataract surgery, oculoplastic surgery (plastic and reconstructive surgery around the eyes) and lacrimal surgery. In addition to his skill as an ophthalmic surgeon, he is also a keen player in the field of research and is currently involved in several ophthalmic research projects and has presented his work both nationally and internationally.
In his spare time he enjoys hill walking with his family and dogs, as well as squash, drawing & painting, trying to play golf and mountaineering.

I had two cataract operations by Mr McLean. The first went perfectly but after the second op I experienced some unexpected difficulties. Mr McLean worked very hard to get me through this problem. He was available to see me when I needed help, he explained everything very clearly and continued my treatment until the difficulties were overcome. All in all I felt very well cared for.
Cannot fault the experience from initial consultantion to the procedure. Would highly reccomend Mr McLean and he would be my first point of call if i had any eye problems in the future
The whole process and outcome was brilliant. I was very nervous but it couldn't have been an easier process or a better outcome.
Mr McLean was fantastic The moment I stepped foot into his office for an eye exam, he was caring and explained everything that was going to happen and the results and what they meant, which was very refreshing and very informative. When admitted for my operation, he checked up on me, explained everything again of what was going to happen and was extremely reassuring. Post operation and for the follow up consultation, Mr McLean was again very caring, together with explaining everything in details, which I was extremely grateful for. He has been absolutely fantastic all the way through from start to end and would not hesitate (and do) recommend his service whole heartedly..... Thank you very much !
