Mr Anthony Evans

Mr Evans qualified at St Bartholomew's Hospital, London and underwent training in Ophthalmology in Oxford, London and Australia (including a stint with the Flying Doctor Service). After qualifying as a specialist he spent a year working in the Eye department at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, one of the leading children's hospitals in the world.

He has practised as a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon in Portsmouth since 1994. His practice is divided between general adult Ophthalmology (including cataract surgery) and children's eye problems. He was elected to the council of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 2004 and was appointed as the Regional Surgical Adviser to the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in 2012.

He is the lead clinician for Paediatric Ophthalmology at Portsmouth Hospital NHS Trust and continues with Royal College work as a lead assessor for consultant appointments.

He has published over 20 articles in peer-reviewed journals, have written the national Royal College guidelines for outpatient services and continue to train junior surgeons (paediatric and adult operating).
