About Dr Ajeya Shetty
Dr Ajeya Shetty is a Consultant Gastroenterologist with extensive experience across the full spectrum of gastroenterological conditions. He practices privately at Great Western Hospitals Private Healthcare and The Ridgeway Hospital, part of Circle Health Group with specialist interests include inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), endoscopy, and hepatobiliary disorders.
After graduating in medicine from the University of Glasgow in 1993, Dr Shetty was awarded Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 1997 and elected as a Fellow in 2011. He completed specialist training in gastroenterology on the London South West rotation, during which he spent three years at the internationally renowned St Mark’s Hospital, Harrow. There, he gained advanced expertise in managing complex IBD, irritable bowel syndrome, functional bowel disorders, and nutritional support, while also serving as a Clinical Tutor for Imperial College London. His research into IBD led to the award of an MD from the University of London. He also trained for a year at the Liver Unit at King’s College Hospital, furthering his experience in hepatology and liver disease management.
Dr Shetty is highly skilled in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, capsule endoscopy, and ERCP, with particular expertise in bowel and liver disorders.

Today was my routine check in and Dr Shetty is always supportive, understanding and encouraging. IBD isnt easy to live with, or talk about but Dr Shetty and the team has always made it as easy as possible to be as honest as possible.
Dr Shetty is fantastic, he always listens and finds the best treatment that works for you as an individual. I wouldn't want to see anyone else and he has helped me many times when in a flare up.
He was very helpful and gave me time to ask any questions if needed. He was a little late but that was no issue in my opinion, and to be expected at the doctor's.
I have been seen by Dr Shetty twice within two weeks and on both times he has been extremely helpful, informative and professional. He is very friendly and puts you at ease immediately with a reassurance that he is still there for you if needed in the future
Well looked after, and steered through the system. All staff helpful and friendly.
I shared as many facts as I could with Dr Shetty and he listened carefully. His feedback was very useful and appropriate. I didn't feel rushed and the next stage of the diagnosis was explained clearly.
Was very easy with me as I struggled at first and wanted to leave but he managed to keep me Calm and got me through it in the end
