About Mr Ajeet Kumar
Mr Ajeet Kumar is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Knee Surgeon with extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of knee conditions. He has held a substantive NHS consultant post at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust since 2001 and provides assessment and treatment for a wide range of orthopaedic conditions, with a particular focus on knee surgery.
Mr Kumar began his orthopaedic training in the Republic of Ireland, working as a Senior House Officer and Junior Registrar in hospitals including Cork Regional Hospital and centres in Dublin. He subsequently moved to the UK to continue specialist training and was appointed as an Orthopaedic Specialist Registrar at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where he completed higher surgical training in trauma and orthopaedics and obtained Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Orthopaedics.
Further subspecialist fellowship training in knee surgery was undertaken in Sheffield, with advanced experience in the management of anterior cruciate ligament injuries, degenerative knee disease and complex ligament reconstruction. Following completion of training, he relocated to London and has since been involved in both clinical service delivery and registrar training within the NHS.
Mr Kumar’s clinical practice includes anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, total and unicompartmental knee replacement, meniscal repair and the management of sports-related and degenerative knee conditions, alongside general orthopaedic consultations.

He was very patient and educational with my complex foot condition. He also expedited my ultrasound injection as there was a longer wait time than expected in Radiology. His admin support was also very efficient and supportive. Highly recommend Mr Kumar. He is very experienced.
I was interested in Arthrosamid injections to assist my arthritic knees. Mr Kumar very clearly and gently said my arthritis was too far advanced for this treatment to be effective. I was disappointed but clearly understood why the treatment was not for me. I felt the whole consultation was positive even though the outcome was, for me, not necessarily what I wanted to hear. Mr Kumar suggested alternative treatments, which I had previously tried, and will now give another try.

I found Mr Kumar to be very attentive and was recommended by my daughter-in-law after Mr Kumar operated on her knee last year after a ski accident. It was nice that he walked me down to the MRI scan on my first visit.
