Mr Aires Lobo

Mr Aires Lobo is a Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in Medical Retina and Cataract Surgery with a wealth of experience in his field. He is currently the Clinical Director at Moorfields Eye Unit at Bedford Hospital, and the Clinical Lead for the Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Service, providing services to the Bedfordshire, Luton and Dunstable regions. Mr Lobo also sees private patients at the following locations:

Mr Lobo completed his medical degree at the University of Goa, India in 1992, followed by his Master's degree in Ophthalmology at the same university in 1996. He later moved to the UK and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1998. In 2007 he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

As a testament to his clinical expertise, he has won many awards, including being nominated for the 2011 Macular Disease Society's annual Clinical Services of the Year Award. He is recognised for his efforts towards improving the quality of life of his patients through providing excellent healthcare and treatment.

Mr Lobo specialises in the treatment and management of several eye conditions, including: macular degeneration, diabetic neuropathy, dry eye, watering eye, cataract, floaters and blepharitis. He also has expertise in a number of procedures, including the following:
