Mr Miles Parnell is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at The Royal Eye Unit, Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in London having previously worked as the clinical lead for glaucoma at the Princess Royal University Hospital, King's College NHS Foundation Trust.
He specialises in all aspects of glaucoma and cataract surgery, as well as in general eye complaints. He has a particular interest in cataract and glaucoma surgery, in particular minimally invasive glaucoma surgery.

He obtained his medical degree from Imperial College in London, where he also acquired a B.Sc. in Endocrinology. I am absolutely delighted with my new pair of eyes at the age of 76. Mr Parnell performed a high precision implant using extended depth monofocal lenses with astigmatism correction. Each procedure took around half an hour to perform under local anaesthetic and the second one was so comfortable that during the op I even dozed off! The support provided after the op was second to none. Now that cataracts have gone I am not blinded by sun or lights any more when driving. I can see details on the horizon, watch telly, look at the computer screen, read magazines, text on my mobile and even see small print on the medicine bottles - all without glasses !!

I was pleased with the consultation. Miles Parnell took care with the eye examinations and his explanations were clear.

Mr Parnell's personal style exudes quiet confidence and professionalism which inspires confidence. His explanation of the issues with my glaucoma and the options for treatment, including possible side effects, was clear. This helped me make a fully informed decision to have a trabeculectomy to reduce the pressure in the eye. Mr Parnell carried out the procedure recently and the indications are that the procedure has been successful. I have no hesitation in recommending Mr Parnell to anyone with glaucoma.

Exceptionally courteous and helpful throughout the process from beginning to end, taking time to explore and explain options before, during and after the cataract procedures. Dr Parnell inspires confidence and is to be highly recommended. One of the best doctor-patient experiences I have had in 60+ years.
