My wife and I saw Professor Pereira yesterday morning at what was an understandably very anxious time for us. From the outset, he was calm, professional and extremely reassuring. He explained matters clearly, put us both at ease and had an excellent bedside manner.

We were also enormously impressed by the organisation around him. His secretary, Sue McAlinden, went to exceptional lengths to secure investigations quickly — spending more than 30 minutes on the telephone to the imaging centre to arrange an urgent MRI the very next day. The speed and coordination of the CT/PET, MRI and EUS were remarkable.

Professor Pereira himself was thorough, approachable and clearly hugely experienced. At a time when patients and families are inevitably nervous, the combination of clinical expertise, efficiency and humanity made a considerable difference.

We are very grateful to Professor Pereira, Sue and the wider team for the care and support they gave my wife.
