About Dr Adam Harris
Dr Adam Harris is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Physician with a special interest in dyspepsia, gastro-oesophageal reflux, irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel diseases. He qualified from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School in 1987 and gained the degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1995 following two years of full-time academic research within the field of gastroenterology.
Dr Harris worked for the NHS for over 30 years, working as a consultant in Tunbridge Wells from 1997 until 2017, and now practices exclusively privately in Sevenoaks, Orpington and in Marylebone, central London, where he sees patients aged 18 and over only.
He was actively involved in the British Society of Gastroenterology and held the roles of Secretary and Chair within the Clinical Services & Standards Committee. In October 2007, he received a National Bronze Clinical Excellence Award, recognizing his "sustained and dedicated contribution to the NHS over and above any contractual requirement".
Dr Harris has been involved in multiple publications, both within his field and more generally. He co-authored the NICE guidelines for ulcerative colitis, as well as the BSG Handbook for Independent Practice. He has also been active in research on topics ranging from ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease to Helicobacter pylori and acid-related disease.

The most patient and kindest doctor I have come across in London, I would recommend Dr Harris without a doubt.
My doctor urged me to have a colonoscopy after some results she was unhappy about. My husband had already been treated by Dr Harris and he assured me that Dr Harris was the best. Dr Harris and the team at Lyra Orpington were amazing. Dr Harris was very reassuring, patient with my numerous questions which he answered fully with helpful suggestions. The team at Lyra were kind and put me at ease.
On both of my consults with Dr Harris, I felt that he was very knowledgeable and no question I had was too much for him to answer. He explained things in a very clear way so it was easily understood.
