Dr Michael Plunkett

Dr Michael Plunkett is a Consultant Paediatrician who provides expert, compassionate care for infants, children, and young people. With a thoughtful and reassuring approach, he diagnoses and treats a broad range of general paediatric conditions, supporting families through every stage of a child's health journey. Dr Plunkett is dedicated to ensuring that young patients receive individualised care tailored to their physical, emotional, and developmental needs.

In clinical practice, Dr Plunkett holds a particular focus in Paediatric Diabetes and the management of long-term metabolic conditions in young individuals. He is a strong advocate for modern health technology, integrating hybrid closed-loop insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring devices into routine care for patients with Type 1 diabetes. By helping families embrace these innovative tools, he works to optimise blood glucose control and improve daily quality of life for young patients.

Dr Plunkett completed his medical degree and specialist training in Paediatrics to achieve recognition as a Consultant Paediatrician. In addition to his clinical work in child health and diabetology, he serves as a Designated Doctor for Safeguarding Children, applying rigorous standards of child protection to advocate for vulnerable young people.
