Dr Matthew Thomas

Dr Matthew Thomas is an experienced Consultant Vascular Surgeon who specialises in diagnosing and treating conditions affecting the human circulatory system. Serving as a Clinical Lead in his field, he delivers comprehensive care for complex arterial and venous disorders, combining traditional surgical expertise with modern endovascular techniques. Dr Thomas is committed to providing reassuring, patient-centred care, ensuring that individuals receive clear advice and tailored treatment plans designed to safeguard their vascular health.

Dr Thomas earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Leeds School of Medicine in 2004, having previously completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Anatomy at the same institution in 2002. He undertook extensive surgical training across Yorkshire, the North East, and the West Midlands, focusing on higher surgical training in vascular surgery. Dedicated to clinical excellence and education, he subsequently completed a Master's degree in Clinical Education in 2013, followed by a Master's degree in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery from the University of Edinburgh in 2017. He further broadened his clinical capabilities through an international specialist fellowship in Sydney, Australia.

In his day-to-day practice, Dr Thomas manages a broad spectrum of vascular conditions, with a strong focus on Endovascular Surgery. His areas of clinical interest include the management of abdominal aortic aneurysms, peripheral arterial disease, chronic limb-threatening ischaemia, carotid artery disease, and venous conditions such as varicose veins. He performs a wide variety of advanced procedures, ranging from minimally invasive endovascular repairs and endovenous ablation techniques to open arterial bypass surgery and carotid endarterectomy.
