Dr Matthew Nixon

Dr Matthew Nixon is an accomplished Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in paediatric upper limb and hand surgery. Dedicated to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care to children and young people, he diagnoses and manages a broad array of musculoskeletal conditions affecting the shoulder, elbow, forearm, wrist, and hand. His clinical practice focuses on restoring movement, enhancing physical function, and providing tailored treatment plans designed around the unique developmental needs of each child.

Dr Nixon earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) before completing a postgraduate Doctor of Medicine (MD) research degree. He subsequently undertook higher surgical training and attained Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery, FRCS(Orth). To further refine his expertise, Dr Nixon completed advanced sub-specialty fellowship training in upper limb and paediatric orthopaedic surgery, equipping him with specialist skill in managing complex reconstructive cases.

Working alongside hand therapists, plastic surgeons, and neurologists in a multi-disciplinary team, Dr Nixon offers both non-operative treatments and intricate reconstructive surgical procedures.

He has published widely on paediatric orthopaedics and upper limb conditions and regularly lectures to medical colleagues.
