About

Miss Masara Laginaf is an award-winning consultant eye surgeon specialising in laser and lens vision correction, cataract surgery with premium lenses and corneal surgery. She teams meticulous surgical planning and technique with cutting edge technology to achieve the best possible results for her patients.

Miss Laginaf graduated with Distinction from the world-leading University College London Medical School. She achieved advanced undergraduate ophthalmology training at Moorfields Eye Hospital and was awarded the Certificate of Merit in Ophthalmology. She
completed her medical elective in cornea and refractive surgery alongside the renowned Professor Jonathan Moore in Northern Ireland.

Miss Laginaf undertook postgraduate medical and surgical training at the Royal Free Hospital, London before commencing specialised ophthalmic surgical training in the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Rotation. She subsequently completed two and a half years of advanced subspecialist fellowship training including

• Cornea, external eye disease and femtosecond laser
cataract surgery at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust

• Cornea, cataract and refractive surgery at Luton and
Dunstable University Hospital (UCL Partners) and OCL Vision

Miss Laginaf is one of a handful of surgeons in the UK who has been fellowship trained in femtosecond laser cataract surgery and refractive laser eye surgery. She is the first OCL Vision trained fellow of refractive surgery, having honed her skills training under world-leading refractive surgeons with access to the most advanced laser technology.

She previously ran the tertiary corneal service and fellowship programme at Luton and Dunstable University Hospital as locum consultant ophthalmologist. In her role, she established the import of USA corneal tissue for transplantation to battle national shortages, and the use of innovative amnion technology for corneal healing.

Miss Laginaf’s current research interests include laser and lens solutions for presbyopia. Her work has been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals. She is an invited speaker both nationally and internationally and regularly presents research at international meetings.  She is a member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists’ prestigious Surgical Skills Faculty, and is actively engaged in training eye surgeons in advanced surgical techniques. Miss Laginaf is a key opinion leader for Rayner, the original intraocular lens company, with the ability to adopt the latest lens technology rapidly.

Miss Laginaf is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth) and has attained The Certificate of Laser Refractive Surgery (Cert LRS) qualifying her to practice independent laser refractive surgery in the UK.
