Dr. Maria Smithers

Dr Maria Smithers is a Clinical Psychologist based at University College London Hospitals.

Dr Smithers gained her BSc in Psychology at the University of Glasgow, after which she went on to undertake her Master's degree in Adolescent Mental Health at UCL. Throughout her studies, Dr Smithers worked as an Assistant Psychologist and Trainee Clinical Psychologist at various prestigious London Hospitals including Great Ormond street and St. Bart's. Dr Smithers then went on to gain her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2020, and has since worked as a Clinical Psychologist at UCLH.

Dr Smithers works using an integrated approach drawing upon her training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, Solution-focused Therapy and Systemic Therapy. She supports clients to improve their quality of life through exploring their difficulties holistically and creating collaborative goals that they can be supported to achieve independently.
