Dr Maria Leandro is a dedicated Consultant Rheumatologist who provides expert, comprehensive clinical care for patients with complex musculoskeletal and autoimmune conditions. Specialising in both adult and adolescent rheumatology, she focuses on delivering personalised care that addresses each patient's individual symptoms and lifestyle needs. Her clinical practice encompasses the assessment, diagnosis, and management of systemic autoimmune disorders, with a particular emphasis on early intervention to protect joint function and improve overall quality of life.

Dr Leandro completed her medical degree at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa before undergoing specialist clinical training in Rheumatology in Lisbon, Portugal. Continuing her academic and scientific development, she was awarded a Doctorate (PhD) for her research investigating the mechanisms of disease relapse in rheumatoid arthritis following B cell depletion therapy. Alongside her clinical responsibilities, she serves as an Honorary Associate Professor, actively contributing to medical education and leading innovative clinical trials.

Her primary areas of clinical interest include inflammatory arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and B cell directed therapies in autoimmune rheumatic diseases. Dr Leandro is particularly recognised for her work in evaluating novel biologic treatments and targeted immunotherapies for patients affected by severe rheumatic conditions.
