Dr Marc Aitken

Dr Marc Aitken is a highly regarded Consultant Rheumatologist who specialises in the comprehensive management of painful conditions affecting the bones, joints, and soft tissues. His clinical practice encompasses a broad spectrum of rheumatological disorders, with a particular focus on inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue diseases, and complex back problems. Dedicated to delivering patient-centred care, Dr Aitken works closely with his patients to develop tailored treatment plans that alleviate pain, restore mobility, and improve overall quality of life.

Dr Aitken graduated with his medical degree from the University of Edinburgh in 2009. Following his graduation, he completed extensive postgraduate training across Lothian and Greater Manchester. He returned to Scotland in 2015 to undertake specialist training in Rheumatology and General Internal Medicine in Glasgow, subsequently securing a position as a Consultant Rheumatologist in 2020. He is an active member of several professional bodies, including the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and the British Medical Association.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Aitken is a passionate educator and researcher. He has made significant contributions to medical literature, having authored a staple undergraduate textbook in Rheumatology and contributed to various other textbooks and peer-reviewed scientific articles.
