About Dr Ashley Elliott

Dr. Ashley Elliott is a highly skilled Consultant Rheumatologist with extensive expertise in inflammatory arthritis, musculoskeletal ultrasound, and advanced rheumatology care. He holds dual accreditation in both rheumatology and general medicine and has an EFSUM qualification in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound. Dr. Elliott also earned a Master’s degree in Internal Medicine from the University of Edinburgh and a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education from Queen’s University Belfast (QUB).

In his role at Belfast Health & Social Care Trust, Dr. Elliott provides comprehensive care for patients with a wide range of rheumatic diseases. He leads a rapid access giant cell arteritis scanning clinic and a tight control service for psoriatic arthritis, ensuring timely diagnosis and effective management of complex rheumatological conditions.

Dr. Elliott is an award-winning researcher, having received international research grants, including the Doris Hillier Award and the GRAPPA Pilot Grant, to advance the assessment and treatment of inflammatory arthritis. His contributions to research were further recognised when he was awarded the Irish Society of Rheumatology Young Investigator Award.

A dedicated educator and advocate for continuous medical learning, Dr. Elliott co-hosts a clinical case podcast for the British Society of Rheumatology and actively participates in multiple research groups focused on improving treatment outcomes for patients with rheumatic diseases.

Dr. Elliott is a Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at QUB, where he completed a PhD on inflammatory arthritis and responses to biologic therapy. His work continues to shape the future of rheumatology by co-leading research in the Belfast Trust Rheumatology Research Centre, providing better answers for those living with chronic autoimmune conditions.

This was my second consultation with a rivate doctor, the first was a complete waste of time, but Dr Elliott acutely listened to my concerns. He answered by questions explained things in way that reassured me. I would highly recommend Dr Elliot he is a true professional.
