Dr Adrian Pendleton

Adrian Pendleton is a Consultant Rheumatologist and Clinical Development Lead within the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, where he runs clinics at the Royal Victoria Hospital and Musgrave Park Hospital. He trained in both Rheumatology and General Internal Medicine in Belfast and Nottingham and is on the GMC Specialist Register with dual certification in both specialties.

Dr Pendleton was first appointed as a Consultant Rheumatologist at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham University Hospitals, before returning to Belfast. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, and a Fellow of the British Society for Sport and Exercise Medicine (BASEM). He previously served as Northern Ireland Regional Specialty Advisor for Rheumatology and continues to play a national leadership role as the Northern Ireland regional representative for the British Society for Rheumatology, as well as a council member of the Irish Society for Rheumatology.

He has a strong academic and educational background, with more than 20 peer-reviewed publications across a broad range of rheumatic diseases. Dr Pendleton holds EFSUMB certification and is a national tutor in musculoskeletal ultrasound.

Clinically, he has a particular interest in early inflammatory arthritis, including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and spondyloarthritis, as well as crystal arthritis such as gout and pseudogout.
