Dr Luke McMenamin

Dr Luke McMenamin is a Consultant Anaesthetist specialising in comprehensive perioperative care and advanced anaesthetic management. He provides expert clinical support across a wide range of surgical disciplines, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and tailored pain relief throughout every stage of surgical intervention. His clinical practice encompasses both general and complex surgical procedures, delivering meticulous care designed around each individual patient's needs.

With expertise in major trauma anaesthesia, Dr McMenamin possesses dedicated skills in managing complex surgical cases, including hepatobiliary (HPB) procedures and liver transplantation. His areas of interest include regional anaesthesia blocks, advanced vascular access, and point-of-care ultrasound applications such as transoesophageal echocardiography. Alongside his clinical workload, Dr McMenamin serves as a Lead Clinician in theatre and anaesthetic services, actively contributing to clinical governance, patient safety standards, and outcome improvement strategies.

Dr McMenamin earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) with Honours from the University of Leeds in 2015, alongside an Honours Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree. He completed his postgraduate specialist training across Yorkshire and Humber, complemented by an advanced Major Trauma Fellowship at a regional major trauma centre. He achieved Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA) and maintains active membership with the Royal College of Anaesthetists. In addition to his clinical work, he is actively involved in medical education and exam preparation courses for postgraduate trainees.
