Dr. Louise O’Dowd is a Specialist in Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry at Vermilion’s primary clinic in Corstorphine, Edinburgh. Her practice at Vermilion covers various aspects of restorative dentistry, with a particular focus on periodontics, prosthodontics, and multidisciplinary management, enabling her to provide comprehensive care to patients with periodontal disease.

Outside her work at Vermilion, Dr. O’Dowd serves as a Senior Clinical Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at the Edinburgh Dental Institute. She is actively engaged with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) as an Examiner for the Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) examination. Additionally, she plays a role in educating postgraduate Prosthodontic and Restorative Specialist Trainees, as well as undergraduate Dental Hygienists and Therapists.

Dr. O’Dowd earned her dental degree from Dundee University Dental School in 2002. Following this, she relocated to Edinburgh, where she underwent comprehensive postgraduate training across various dental specialties, including hospital, general practice, and community settings. During this period, she achieved Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) from the RCSEd. In 2006, she transitioned to Newcastle Dental Hospital to begin her specialist training in Restorative Dentistry, which she successfully completed in 2011, earning a Masters in Restorative Dentistry.

Furthermore, Dr. O’Dowd is in the process of completing a Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice (PgCAP) from the University of Edinburgh. Her commitment to continuous learning and excellence is evident in her academic and professional achievements.
