Ms Lois Whelan

Lois Whelan is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Fertility Nurse Consultant with over nine years of experience in fertility care across both NHS and specialist settings. She holds a Master’s degree in Advanced Fertility Practice from Edge Hill University and a First-Class Honours degree in Adult Nursing from University of Chester. She is also qualified as a Non-Medical Prescriber and an experienced ultrasound practitioner.

Her clinical expertise spans the full fertility journey, from initial consultations and treatment planning through to ultrasound scanning and embryo transfer procedures. She provides continuity of care throughout the patient pathway, supporting individuals and couples with medication guidance, injection training, and personalised treatment plans.

Lois is particularly known for her calm, empathetic approach and her strong focus on patient advocacy. She is passionate about ensuring patients feel heard, informed, and supported—especially during emotionally complex fertility treatment cycles. Through both in-person consultations and virtual follow-ups, she helps patients navigate decisions with clarity and confidence.

She has extensive experience working in high-volume fertility services, including nearly eight years at The Hewitt Fertility Centre, one of the UK’s busiest fertility units. Her approach centres on building trust, maintaining continuity, and empowering patients throughout every stage of their fertility journey.
