Dr Lesley Kay

Dr Lesley Kay is an accomplished Consultant Rheumatologist dedicated to delivering comprehensive, patient-centred care for individuals experiencing a wide range of rheumatic and musculoskeletal conditions. With extensive expertise in inflammatory joint disorders, she works closely with patients to accurately diagnose complex symptoms and create tailored treatment strategies aimed at relieving discomfort and restoring mobility. Dr Kay is committed to maintaining high standards of clinical excellence and patient safety throughout every stage of care.

Her clinical practice encompasses all aspects of general and specialist rheumatology, with a particular focus on inflammatory spinal and joint conditions. Dr Kay specialises in managing ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and enteropathic arthritis associated with inflammatory bowel disease. She regularly collaborates in multidisciplinary care, coordinating joint clinics alongside specialist Consultant Dermatologists and Consultant Gastroenterologists to support patients with complex, overlapping autoimmune conditions. Her clinical approach incorporates advanced medical therapies, including the administration and monitoring of biologic drugs for treatment-resistant disease.

Dr Kay completed her medical degree at Oxford University in 1990 before undertaking specialist postgraduate training in medicine and rheumatology, alongside public health training in Newcastle and Cambridge. She holds Master's degrees in Public Health as well as Leadership and Quality Improvement. She maintains active involvement in professional bodies, holding advisory roles and memberships with the British Society for Rheumatology, the National Axial Spondyloarthritis Society, and the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society.
