Dr Leo Alexandre

Dr Leo Alexandre is a highly regarded Consultant Gastroenterologist who specialises in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of complex digestive system disorders. With a dedicated focus on upper gastrointestinal conditions, he has developed a particular clinical interest in the early detection and endoscopic management of premalignant and malignant diseases. His clinical practice encompasses a wide range of gastrointestinal issues, including complex Barrett's oesophagus, inflammatory bowel disease, and upper gastrointestinal cancers.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Alexandre is deeply committed to medical research and education. He holds an academic appointment as a Clinical Associate Professor, where his research focuses on the epidemiology of upper gastrointestinal malignancies, risk prediction in gastrointestinal cancers, and chemoprevention strategies for Barrett's oesophagus. His extensive research has been published in numerous leading medical journals, contributing valuable insights to the wider gastroenterology community and helping to shape future clinical guidelines.

Dr Alexandre completed his medical training at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, qualifying with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2008. He subsequently pursued advanced postgraduate studies, obtaining a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Research in 2015 and a PhD in 2017, followed by a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Education in 2018. He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians, having achieved his MRCP (UK) in 2011 and his specialty certificate in Gastroenterology in 2014. Additionally, he is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
