About Dr Lai Cheng Yew
Dr Lai Cheng Yew is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist currently working at the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre and St Albans City Hospital, and also sees patients privately in a number of clinics in North/Central London and Hertfordshire. She is highly experienced in the management of breast cancer.
She has particular expertise in the following areas:
- Radiotherapy
- Chemotherapy
- Immunotherapy
- Hormone therapy
Dr Yew gained her medical degree in 2002 following training at both Cambridge University and University College London. After graduating with a distinction in medicine, she went on to train in clinical oncology and earned her MSc in Oncology from the Institute of Cancer Research, as a result of her work on the pathological complete response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in breast cancer.
In addition to her busy clinical practice, she is actively involved in research, in particular the area of new advanced radiotherapy techniques. She actively recruits into breast radiotherapy trials, and has been trained in proton radiotherapy for breast cancer.
Furthermore, she has held a number of Quality lead roles including Audit lead and Chemotherapy lead. She is also passionate about education and Training Programme Director for North London Clinical Oncology trainees.
She is a fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR) and a member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP).
