Dr Kim Gorissen

Dr Kim Gorissen is an accomplished Consultant Surgeon specialising in General Surgery, with dedicated expertise in colorectal and emergency surgical care. With a compassionate and patient-centred approach, she provides comprehensive diagnostic and surgical management for a wide range of conditions affecting the digestive tract and pelvic region. Dr Gorissen is committed to delivering reassuring, high-quality care while helping patients make informed decisions about their surgical options.

Dr Gorissen completed her foundational medical education at Maastricht University in The Netherlands, earning a bachelor's degree in 2000 and completing her master's degree in 2005. She subsequently undertook higher surgical training, qualifying as a Specialist General, Gastrointestinal, and Oncological Surgeon in 2011. To further advance her clinical skills, she completed advanced sub-specialty fellowships in colorectal and pelvic floor surgery. She actively contributes to professional governance and education, serving as Chair of the Scientific Programme Committee and Council Member for the National Pelvic Floor Society, as well as holding membership in the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland.

In her day-to-day practice, Dr Gorissen manages both urgent emergency surgical admissions and elective procedures, with a distinct clinical interest in pelvic floor dysfunction and complex colorectal care. Her areas of practice include sacral nerve stimulation, colorectal resection, diverticular disease, functional bowel disorders, and obstructed defaecation. Alongside her clinical commitments, Dr Gorissen remains actively engaged in teaching medical students and resident surgical trainees, ensuring her practice continually integrates the latest evidence-based techniques to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
