Dr Kay Roy

Dr Kay Roy is a highly accomplished Consultant Respiratory Physician who offers comprehensive, patient-centred care for individuals experiencing a wide array of respiratory conditions. Known for her professional and reassuring clinical approach, Dr Roy focuses on thoroughly evaluating and managing complex breathing difficulties, helping patients achieve optimal lung function and an improved quality of life. Her clinical practice encompasses both acute and chronic chest disorders, ensuring that patients receive clear diagnostic clarity and tailored treatment strategies suited to their healthcare needs.

Her clinical expertise covers a broad spectrum of respiratory medicine, including the advanced management of asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, sarcoidosis, and bronchiectasis. Dr Roy also possesses extensive expertise in diagnosing and managing chest infections, acute lung infections, interstitial lung disease, and pulmonary fibrosis. Beyond medical therapies, she actively leads clinical initiatives in tobacco dependency and smoking cessation, multidisciplinary lung volume reduction assessment pathways, and the integration of digital health tools to support effective patient self-management.

Dr Roy earned her medical degree (MBChB) from the University of Manchester in 2000. She subsequently completed her higher specialist respiratory training within the Cambridge Deanery and was awarded a PhD in 2008 for her research into the clinical characterisation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) and holds national leadership roles within the British Thoracic Society, including serving as Chair of the Specialist Advisory Group on Lung Infections and contributing to national quality improvement committees.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr Roy contributes to medical education and clinical research as an Honorary Associate Professor. She has served as a Principal Investigator on major multicentre clinical trials evaluating novel therapies for asthma and COPD, and has contributed to national clinical management guidelines.
