Dr Katy Blackmore

Dr Katy Blackmore is a dedicated and highly skilled Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon who specialises as a Paediatric Otolaryngologist. With a reassuring and patient-centred approach, she is committed to delivering the highest standard of care to infants, children, and young people experiencing a wide range of ear, nose, and throat conditions. Dr Blackmore understands the unique anxieties that families face when a child requires medical intervention, and she works closely with parents and carers to ensure they feel supported and informed at every stage of the treatment journey.

Her clinical expertise encompasses a broad spectrum of paediatric ENT disorders, with particular interests in paediatric airway surgery, the management of hearing loss, and middle ear conditions such as glue ear. Dr Blackmore is highly experienced in performing common paediatric procedures, including tonsillectomies and the insertion of grommets, as well as managing complex airway issues and tracheostomy care. Her practice is characterised by a gentle, compassionate manner that helps put young patients at ease during consultations and surgical procedures.

Dr Blackmore completed her medical degree at Newcastle University, qualifying in 1999. She subsequently undertook extensive specialist training in otolaryngology, achieving Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS ORL-HNS). Driven by a passion for teaching and mentoring the next generation of medical professionals, she also obtained a Master of Clinical Education (MClinEd) and is actively involved in undergraduate medical training. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and holds professional memberships with ENT UK and the British Association of Paediatric Otolaryngology (BAPO). In addition to her clinical and educational roles, she contributes to clinical research and the development of national guidelines to improve paediatric ENT services.
